Clumsy: Describing multiple sclerosis from A to Z

Multiple sclerosis can make total klutzes out of us. Can a person be clumsy without being clownish? You bet, especially if it’s an MSer.

MS has a way of messing with muscle coordination and agility.

Adroit? We’re not. When MS acts up, we can be all thumbs.

We drop our keys. We flip pens and pencils off our desks without meaning to do so. We fumble to set the dinner table, to braid hair, to fold laundry, to shave, or to perform any number of tasks requiring fine motor skills. And don’t get me started on the deterioration of my own penmanship, which wasn’t exactly perfect to begin with.

Can you say, “Butterfingers”?

But sometimes we take this all in stride. Maybe we even joke about it. Hey, we’re coping here! Just don’t let us play with fire or sharp objects on one of those downer days.

On a better MS day, we might be downright nimble.

  1. Your journey is so inspiring - than you so much for sharing all the struggles and your incredible optimism in the face of a condition that must be so frustrating (which should so incredibly inept as a descriptive term!)to cope with!
