Living with M.S.

"Living with M.S. is sort of like training for a long race. The harder you try, and the longer you keep at it, the stronger you become.
Eventually, looking back, you may be amazed at the power you possessed, even when you had no idea it was within your reach." (Linda Ann Nickerson)

Educational: Describing multiple sclerosis from A to Z

Life lessons are hard. Everyone enduring multiple sclerosis gets it. We pretty much become experts in something we never wanted to learn. I guess that’s true with any chronic medical condition. We do the homework with enthusiasm, because it’s personal. We read and study and watch. We draw up lists of questions to ask our physicians during our appointments. We take lots of notes.

Yes, MS is educational.

Sure, the initial diagnosis tends to send us for a whirl. Eventually, however, the initial shock usually grows into coping. We start exploring the ins and outs of the condition with which we’ve been tagged. We examine medical findings. We explore treatment options. We experiment with diet and lifestyle changes to exist more efficiently, even when the evil MS MonSter attacks.

Before too long, we can almost quote chapter and verse on the thing. We even try to explain MS to those who don’t have it – or even get it. Educational, yes. Enjoyable, not so much.

  1. We much prefer when educational things are enjoyable, but that isn't always the case, in those times we often wish those times weren't so educational, but the benefits of being open to that education is so worthwhile. I am thinking next time I am in NYC, I may have to take a side trip to Bein Cuit, the bread looks amazing.
